Post Web SMS to Thailand?
Hi,
Does anyone successfully use a web-based SMS text messaging service to the AIS network (One 2 Call) in Thailand? I have been using ipipi.com for a while but messages stopped being delivered about 3 weeks ago, and ipipi doesn't seem interested in resolving the problem. I've also tried clickatell without success. Thanks for any advice.
Nathan.

Post Glanced at something about this in someone's Bangkok Post ye
I am not sure how useful this info will be. I would imagine that sending an SMS from a comnputer will not have problems based on your computer location but? I hope it helps:

Sending SMS from a PC
I want to send text messages to mobile phones here in Thailand from my Thailand-based PC. I thought this would be a simple Google, but it wasn't. I am stuck. Could you suggest any program that does this?

Database replies: Wanda Sloan replies: SMS messaging from a computer is not really simple. Almost every service has its own rules and procedures, for starters, and of course making phone calls costs money.

Yahoo has some methods to send SMS to some Thai phones. Try this page for info: http://asia.mobile.yahoo.com/sms/ais/tos.html.

Thaivisa.com, a web site aimed at expatriates, has an SMS service for members, with information here: http://www.thaivisa.com/586.0.html.

eSMSzone.com is a specialty web site in Thai for SMS services in the country and internationally: http://www.esmszone.com.

Finally, you might search a software site such as Snapfiles.com or Download.com for software that can help you out. Just use the term "sms" for your search and you will get leads to both free and shareware programs."

I've had the best luck with CHIKKA

You can download the software at

http://www.chikka.com/messenger.html

Once you get it set up, it seems to work very very quickly.

Happy New Year.

CHIKKA looked encouraging but like many of these free SMS services in my experience, failed to deliver ... at least for AIS (which Nathan requested).

They seem to support DTAC only ...
http://www.chikka.com/faq.htm#What_are_the_carriers_supported_by_the_Chikka_Messenger
http://register.chikka.com/unified.html
The statement "If your mobile carrier does not appear here, register for a PC-Only Account." on the last URL (where only DTAC is listed) suggests that other carriers might be possible. I registered for a PC-only account, but when I tried to send a message to my bf on AIS (66 6...), I got an error saying 'carrier not currently supported'.

Yahoo Messenger has always claimed to support free SMS to both DTAC and AIS.

In the beginning, I could send to AIS and messages got through more often than not. Then it stopped. I try again occasionally but haven't for a while. Perhaps someone with more patience would like to try ?
