Three or four years ago, I signed up for a B10,000 (or maybe B12,000?) physical at BNH Hospital in Bangkok, and it included a colonoscopy, as well as a lower torso ultrasound, chest x-ray, EKG, and various blood/urine/stool tests. Now that I see some of the prices quoted for just a colonoscopy, I feel I either got a good price, or prices have really gone up.
I was fascinated with the colonoscopy, and I was able to watch the imagery on a TV monitor in real time. They would take periodic snap shots to keep in my chart, I guess.

The comprehensive physical at Bumrungrad is 13,000 and does not include a colonoscopy.
Not sure I would go with BNH, as I have read and heard several reports of that place wanting to do more than is necessary.

Last year BNH wanted to do rather dangerous neck surgery on my bf (at a huge price). He has since solved the problem with medication and acupuncture after seeing a specialist at Siriraj.

Had the comprehensive checkup at the Bumrungrad in March. Thorough as always but very much more impersonal than the last checkup four or five years ago. Lots of blood chemistry done, some would say of dubious value, chest x-ray, ultrasound of entire abdomen and exercise stress test. Took four or five hours in total.

I have had 4 colonocspy in the last 4 years
It has amazed me that in my case I was fully sedated, and my only compliant was my cup of tea was cold.
Other posters have stated they were not sedated but were in pain
One poster talked about visual where he watched the entire procedure on closed circuit TV
Another talked about virtual operations where there was no surgical entry
Fascinating how the world is changing

 Colonoscopy
I have had the procedure on average once every 5 years since turning 50. It should be part of normal health care. If you are not having the procedure because of not wanting to have a doctor putting a device in your back side. Get over it and be good to yourself and have it done. Concerning the cost, it does not matter. Whatever the cost, this is a real benefit for your life. Have it done every 5 years after your 50th birthday.

I have to thank you for being so frank about your medical condition , my own report indicated I acted just in time and my friends are becoming concerned now as well. I only acted after reading your threads. Not pleasant for someone still thinking I am just middle aged [I fool myself] I cannot understand why it was not recommended to me. Maybe they thought I would not accept. I am glad that I got a warning in time.
Do not stop posting after you return to the UK. I would enjoy hearing how you and BS survive in that cold place.
My best wishes to you both and may you have a pleasant life together
Hello Paul,
just read your post and it has pulled me out of retirement from the board temporarily. I am so pleased that my story prompted you into action and that you have had a successful outcome.
Keep up the checks, and as I said in my original post, I strongly urge everyone to have these checks.
John
PS I will post occassionally here from now on, but I will not get involved in stupid and childish attacks on me by Gone Mad and Brad. Lifes too short. I'll leave George to handle those two dicks.
