Actually, yes, and never had a problem. I have a 'special friend' who lives in Thalat Plu and I often stay in his room. Only 70 baht taxi fare to Silom and the same price to return even at 3 or 4 in the morning! We've been waiting for years for the sky train extension to open. My friend was very disappointed to see that there is no station near 'The Mall' at Tha Pra.

nr 4 (but only the red variety at nitetimes), from Klong Toey-along RamIV (=corner McDo near Silom, stop with all the rentboys), then via the Chinatown WongWienYai(where friend used to live a long time ago, when farang were a rarity), then into the Talad Plu. Thats currently 6 bt/daytime or 7,5 bt/nites.

Now also a peak hour new boat srvice along BangkokNoiCanal from taksin/skytrain, with stop along there.

Pity seems to be mainly that (though the viaduct is ready since quite some time) NO stations at 'wanted places' are constructed. Plus that that subway 9also stopping samesame corner under Silom/RamIV) also not really led to much ''opening up'' for farang: too afarid to go 'taai din''?
