Hotmail Pop Access - The Future is Past Again

PostAuthor: ArNolD » Wed 1 Jul, 2009 9:15 am

Apparently "Hotmail" has resurrected free POP3 access again (unless this is a 'hack'). I just successfully re-enabled pop access in both my mailshredder and OE programs and seem to have found that they saved a very old Hotmail address for me and I'm now getting again some old LONG FORGOTTEN services' email from Fridae, Squirt, Czech RB (GM), PO, CFS ...

Hotmail Live POP3 Access:
POP Server: pop3.live.com
POP Server Port: 995
POP SSL Required? Yes
Username: Your Windows Live ID, eg. user@hotmail.com
Password: Your Hotmail or Windows Live Password
SMTP Server: smtp.live.com
SMTP Server Port: 25
SMTP Authentication Required? Yes (same as POP3 username and password)
SMTP SSL Required? Yes

You would still have to go through a browser if you would ever wat to check the HM junk mail folder (need IMAP for that).

If Hotmail pop3 access was terminated and then resurrected, it must have been quite a while ago. I can't recall how long it's been that I've been downloading my Hotmail with Thunderbird via pop3 access, but I've been doing that for quite a while now.
