PGF Parade Route???

Post PGF Parade Route???
Notice of last year's Pattaya Gay Festival's parade route wasn't well disseminated with the result that a large number of prospective observers/cheerleaders watched the end of the World AIDS Day parade waited in vain for the more colourful, dare I say gay?, contingent.

What is the route this year? Will it tag along behind the AIDS day parade or go it's own way at some particular location?

Clarity this year would be appreciated, please.

Post PGF
It would be nice to know why after subscribing to the PGF newsletter several times, I've never had a newsletter (or any infotmation) from them....

Post Re: PGF Pattaya
I am told this morning that City Hall has cancelled their Parade for World Aids Day and I assume all the education on HIV/AIDS in schools as well this year.  This will include our Gay Parade part.  No further information on reasons, if any, at this time.

Mr PGF will take place at Throb on that day in it's place.

No newsletters as it was felt that the web site being updated so regularly was enough news in it's self. Sorry if you were thinking otherwise Dragoncastle.

Last year officials changed the parade route with no notice.  This year the parade is cancelled with no reason.

I am beginning to get the impression they would prefer the queers stay home and send their money to Thailand.

Post Re: .
The city and the Mayor want turists to visit Pattaya.

But obviosly not gayturists, since they do everything to annoy what gaypeople do.

And they talk about education about AIFD/HIV in the schools. The Parade was a good way to teach the children about Aids.

The city hall and the mayor shows more and more that they are completely unqualified to their job.>:

That is a pure understatement Hajuthai, most of the pattaya officals and Mayor are all ex- milatary or police Colonels and Generals. Just look at the posters on Polling day- all in Uniform. So of course they dont have a clue about civillian matters. Just a big game for most of them. So a parade for gays and anti-aids to them not immportant.

I think the gay comunity and the PGF do a great job money raising without any "offical" help. So keep the good work up and lets get the message across in our own way.

Post Not ex-colonals (sic!) and generals!
I agree with you about the incompetence, etc, but whatever the reason for this it has nothing to do with their being ex-police or military, which they are not (although a lot of MPs are). All Thais in any branch of government service (police, military, civil service, teachers, postmen, MPs, local government, etc, etc) have a uniform, medals, etc, as in many Asian countries.

If you want an example of incompetence look no further than the Asian Indoor Games, a major international sporting event, with the athletics events being held this week in a new, purpose-built stadium in Soi Chaiyapreuk, just South of Pattaya. The main advertisements are the coloured boxes near the traffic lights along Sukumvit - no direct reference to the games, no directions, and easily mistaken for Loy Kratong decorations. The only large advertisements incorrectly refer to "Pattaya Amazing Asian Indoor Games" (maybe some form of sexual Olympics??!) and these are less prominent than the billboards in the middle of Sukhumvit Road now featuring a smiling Pattaya Mayor! No wonder that the vast new car park, finished the day before the opening ceremonies, was empty when I went yesterday.
