Re: Si saket

Last year I visited the Hindu temple Khao Phra Wihan in that province (although the temple itself lies in Cambodia). Worth the trip, if open due to the ongoing war. If you visit, be careful of land mines in the area of the temple.

Re: Malaysia Hotel

It looks like this is turning into another Malaysia versus Pinnacle thread. I personally like the Malaysia. The only drawback is that they are often full. If you come during the high season, they may put you up in the guest house for one night--even with a paid reservation. The problem is that they ...

Re: Mid week trip out to Boystown - including new Bubbles!

I've visited the new Bubbles on two different nights. Each night, not many guys on stage. I liked the old Crystal Boys for the guys working there. Not many places in Pattaya for muscle and it looks like Bubbles isn't going be another Crystal Bar...too bad. Hope it gets better with the type and numbe...

Re: SURIN - Elephant Festival

I have been to Surin when it wasn't the elephant festival. I found the town to be a peaceful stop but definitely not a place to look for gay hook-ups. It's worth visiting the nearby Hindu temple Khao Phra Whan in Si Sa Ket province. I went the Friday before it was closed due to the ongoing war June ...

Re: sleeping tablets

I think you are talking about over the counter doxylamine succinate --brand name unisom. Also, works good for jet lag,I buy them in the states.

Re: Muscular guys in Pattaya ?

The way I see it--the guy is working for the bar so you would need to pay the off fee for each day he would be gone. On top of that--pay the guy a daily allotment--up to you on how much. Then, you would have the expenses of entertaining--food, drinks, movies, etc. etc. I definitely would tell him in...

Re: Muscular guys in Pattaya ?

You might try some of the massage places in Boyztown. A few of the guys there are definitely on the muscular side. Of the bars, Boyz Boyz Boyz and Abomb might be your best bet. Nothing beats Tawan in Bangkok. I live in Pattaya, but I make regular trips to Bangkok to enjoy myself at Tawan. I've also ...

Re: Reading Thai

I have found tones to be very important. If you don't pronounce a word with the right Tones, most Thais don't know what you are trying to say. You've think you've said the word correctly, but you are not understood.

Re: Reading Thai

I found the video to be very basic but a good start for getting acquainted with the Thai alphabet.

Re: Reading Thai

Learning Thai is very difficult, but well worth the effort. One of the obvious pluses is being able to actually talk with your Thai friends beyond the "where you from and how long you stay". What amazes me is how few Farangs living in Pattaya try to learn to speak Thai. I've traveled all o...

Re: Its outrages!!!

I think they have to reset the atms . That's what happened to a friend trying to use the an atm at TukCom. No fee--until 2 days ago, the 150฿ fee started appearing. At least it advises you of the charge, asking if you want to proceed or cancel the transaction.

Re: How many guys from Thaibody.com work in Tawan bar ?

I was in Tawan last night. I really like the kind of guy working there. Either you like it or you don't. If it's not your thing, then do go somewhere else. Personally, I think it's one of a kind on the planet. Anyway, last night one of my Tawan friends had on a Thaibody t-shirt. He said he wasn't li...

Re: Curious Newbie says thanks, I'm confused

Learning Thai is definitely one of the more difficult languages to learn. However, if you are retired and living in Thailand you have no excuse for not learning the language. It makes it so much easier when you get a Thai friend and you actually what to communicate with him. The trouble with learnin...

That's easy, when I go by a bank I just show my Thai friend the exchange rate and explain, in Thai, how bad it is for me exchanging dollars to baht--now and in the future.

Malaysia Hotel

So much for the lack of tourists. I just checked into the Malaysia Hotel ( I had made my reservation a month ago). While I was checking in, someone tried getting a room and was told the hotel was fully booked until Jan. 4. I don't mean to start a thread on pro versus con of the Malaysia Hotel (you e...
