Re: Trains in Thailand

Sounds like an interesting way to do a Visa Run.
Has anyone tried doing it this way?

Incidentally, I took a sleeping tablet once I was in bed and slept soundly until dawn, so if there was any noise, it didn't disturb me.

Those missing toes

Many Thais I see in gogo bars have a toe either completely or partially missing. I haven't noticed this strange modification to the feet of Thais before and am curious to know why. I doubt if it is caused by accidents as it seems to affect just the odd toe. Does anyone have an answer to this curious...

That Thai way of walking

Have you noticed the way many Thai guys strut along the street, swinging their arms from side to back at about 45 degrees to their body, while walking with their feet pointing at about 45 degrees outwards rather than straight forward. I find it quite unique and endearing, but does anyone know why th...

Re: AEON ATM Bangkok & Bank of Ayudhya

For what it's worth, I successfully withdrew 15,000Bt from the branch of Ayudhya's ATM near Friendship Supermarket in South Pattaya Road today and was not charged any fee by that bank. I used a Nationwide Visa Debit card from the UK. I have stopped looking for Aeon ATMs as a friend had bad experienc...

Re: ATM Status Update

Bank of Ayudhya Pattaya Tai (South Pattaya Road) just east of Friendship. Fee Free, and I was told that it will stay that way at this location because it is on Company property. But their other ATMs charge the fee. I tried this bank on Pattaya Tai with my Nationwide Visa Debit card this afternoon a...

Party break in Bangkok.

In the middle of a six month stay in Pattaya, I decided to go for a couple of nights break to Bangkok last weekend. I had discovered that the Babylon Sauna was having a foam party, an event which I had been trying to attend for a couple of years, but unsuccessfully for a variety of reasons. On Frida...

Two nights in Bangok with the Pattaya contingent.

As reticent as I am to associate myself with a thread that starts with such a blatant, if true description of the activities of Soi Twilight, I feel I must add my own angle on the activities of the Pattya sleaze sniffers, er - contingent. Trongpai was indeed a helpful and enjoyable companion on our ...

'Love of Siam' film clips with English subtitles

I haven't a clue how accurate the translation to English is on the following video, but for me it is a good 10 minute heartwarming summary of a main theme of the film. It is also in High Quality if viewed or downloaded directly from Youtube: [youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bEmn3caSGvs[/youtu...

I'm so sad to hear of the closure of the Renoir restaurant. It was the choice of many I know for those special occasions where the ambiance was conducive to conversation with pleasant, quiet background music. The food was good, healthy and adequate for me, although more staff might have given quicke...

Thanks for your kind comments guys, I'm glad it was worth the effort which did indeed take many hours. I don't begrudge that as I like to compile these reports for my own benefit as well as others. It just needs the spur of posting them within a reasonable time frame. For those on a dial up connecti...
