Regular visitors to DJ might have noticed a slow refurbishment process going on over the last few months.
The air-con system has been renewed with large jets that dump huge quantities of much needed cool air on the main dance floor and stage area. The lighting and projection systems have been upgraded and there is a funky light-wall at the back of the stage. The TV monitors have been replaced with plasma's and the front wall of the building has a new glass facade, which opens up to allow more exists at closing time.
The biggest change is on the 1st floor where the bar has been moved to the far corner (where the toilets were) creating a much larger area at the top of the stairs - where the 'beautiful people' like to congregate.
I won't put a link to their web site 'cos they haven't refurbished that yet
Not to be out-done, Freeman's is also going through a (more comprehensive) refurbishment. They have moved the stage from the right hand end to the back wall and the bar from the left to the back wall too. Thus creating large open areas to the sides. It is still very much 'under construction' and when I was there last weekend it had the feel of a youth club disco in the village hall.
