Police Lieutenant Colonel Egadit from Dongtan Police sub-station on Jomtien Beach received a visit from Mr. Tommy Christian aged 23 from Norway on Monday Night regarding an attack from a gang of Ladyboys which begun on Jomtien Beach. He claimed that he was approached by a female on the beach who suggested the pair go back to her room for some fun. He decided to accept her invitation and jumped on the back of her motorbike. They drove to Soi 9 on Jomtien Beach and inside the Soi, the man was apparently set-upon by a group of three Ladyboys who proceeded to steal everything he had which included 1,000 Baht in cash and a Sony-Eriksson mobile phone. Police made the report and told the man to go, however he had no money to get back to his hotel on the Pratamnak Road. A good hearted officer decided to pay for a Baht Bus to take him back to his hotel where he is now waiting for a call to confirm that the group has been caught.

I hope he's not holding is breath. Readers of Gaybutton might recollect his problems getting the police to even investigate a burglary at his home, even when GB knew who did it, and told the police who and where he was.

I had my room burglarized in Bangkok a few years ago when I spent the whole winter there. Someone shimmied-up a drain-pipe from the roof of an adjacent house and entered three separate apartments on the 3rd floor through the windows. The other victims were law interns working for the Thai-German Chamber of Commerce, so they had a Thai lawyer colleague accompany us to the police station to file a report. The lawyer explained to us after wards that the Police had a pretty good idea exactly who did it, but that without hard evidence they were reluctant to even question him as it is possible for the police to get sued for defamation if they charge someone with a crime and he is then found innocent in court.
Alas, if we but do right under restraint of authoritative observance, where then is the merit?
