Post Internet connections
Sorry if this is off message, but I am finding that my home computer's link to the net here in Pattaya is hopeless.  I tried Sanook, on a recommendation.  Speeds were very slow all day, and cut off regularly.  Maximum ever achieved was 40kb, and 15 was usual.

Tried CSlox, loxinfo.  Just as bad.  Speeds now down to 9kb.  I am here in a cafe because the link here does not get cut off and it has ADSL.

Is there any solution?

Can you pay for ADSL on a month to month basis?  Only here for a few months so it would not be worth it to pay for a year's contract.

I would be grateful for advice.

I am using Loxinfo for 4 year now and don't have any major problems. My connection speed is between 40 and 46 Kbps. There is a high probability that this has something to do with your telephone line. I have heard from other expats that have problems and they are mainly due to in house phone lines.

You can ask your telephone company to check your phone line. That's how I discovered a problem with my phone line IN the Condo

Just go to a good internet shop.

True is crap. spent 1600 bht last month , and can not conect when i what , tryed Loxinfo , no better.

50 hours at internet shop for 1000 bht. and no time limit. is not bad. I can not blame my phone line as I just had it all renewed.

Post Phones and Internet
Getting a phone line seems difficult. A friend wants to get one so he can then get ADSL but TTT say they have no numbers and TOT  have a six month waiting list. It may depend on where you live.

I have ADSL with JiNet and i mostly get over 200kps which is fine. I pay B1000 a month with a years contract. Installation was a nightmare. Having checked with all concerned that it would work with an Apple iMac I bought but found it would not work and their engineers did not know how or why. Eventually I had to buy and pricey 'router' and hire a computer expert to get it working. Now we have an Apple shop in Pattaya with engineers so no more problems. I have a spare modem going begging if anyone wants one. They would not take it back as it was free.

I am delighted to learn that GSM are now improving their customer service and combining their National and International call charges onto one Invoice - WOW! With a mobile and a landline I used to get 4 or more bills a month.

I thought I would get the charges put on my credit card. I avoided Direct Debit as the last time it took 4 months to get it working and then I found out they don't all send you an invoice. It is sent to your bank.

I talked to GSM Customer Service and they told me that I had to go to a local shop. I asked if I could do it on the Internet and they said yes. I tried but their website is weird and slow so I gave up and went to Telewiz shop in Carrefour. They say I have to go to the GSM shop in Sri Racha!!! A friendly farang was trying to get his put on Direct debit and had photocopies of his passport and other stuff and a form. I thought I would go that route but they had no forms left. TIT. I had a nice Subway sandwich to regain my composure.
