I've always tipped 700 to 800 baht for short time, and 1,000 to 1,200 baht long time and never had a problem from any of the boys.   I've offed many boys multiple times and always pay the same, so they must be happy with the tip.



I agree with the advice that you need to be very explicit what you expect, BEFORE you pay the bar fine.   I always state, "Me fcuk you" so they understand my intentions.



Occassionally you get a lad who renege's on the bargain he struck, in which case i show him the door and give him 100 to 200 baht.

I agree that I gave an extravigant tip by my standards but this was an exceptional guy. Now I am worried that any other young Thai man will suffer in comparison. This god was perfect and will I ever be satisfied with a lesser god....but that may be another topic.

It is a matter of taste. Have a friend who offed a boy for one night followed by two, followed by the rest of the holiday, followed by for ever (thus retiring the boy)... and they live happily still. I have often offed several times... suddenly you find something that works for you. You should not restrict yourself to your imagination... a serious wank of the ego is good for everyone.

I agree that's probably possible, but it's also a statement from a guy who lives full time in Pattaya (?) or perhaps Bangkok (??  not quite sure where Mr Botting lives), and probably is more well-known by the guys, and probably 'offs' on a regular basis (??).  Given those circumstances, it's probably fair to expect a discount for being a "regular".



But in fact, those were the prices which I recall folks bandying about in 1999 when I first dabbled my feet in these gay Thailand message boards.

  

Surely even mild inflation has raised the baht bar just a bit for the Thais ... and we can all probably afford to be more generous than insisting on getting laid for 500 baht.

500 baht = $12.00 US

1000 baht = $24.00 US



In November, 2000:



500 baht = $11.00 US

1000 baht = $22.00 US



A one dollar raise over a span of 5 years is ~ I agree ~ inordinately generous.

I think it might make an interesting experiement to lay a pile of

baht  by the bedside and learn the Thai phrase for "take what you think

is fair" and see what he pockets.



Unfortunately, sometimes you find a gem who disappoints you

when it comes down to recompense and he starts asking for more

for this and that. Happened to me and I thought, this guy could

have made a lot being my companion on this holiday but I'm going

to say goodbye because he turned me off by the money talk.

A one dollar raise over a span of 5 years is ~ I agree ~ inordinately generous."..............Another way to think about this.  For nearly 20 years the exchange rate was around 25THB = 1USD (pre-1997 economic crisis) ( www.forecasts.org/data/data/EXTHUS.htm ).  Old timers tell me for years (my first year was 199  the going rate at the bars was 500 THB or about about 20USD!  So in these terms sex cost the same as it did 20 years ago and that's not even considering the effects of inflation.  Quite a deal!  With that said, the logic escapes me to overpay for anything just because it's so much cheaper than your home country.
