It is not something that is haunting me, but it is not something I will forget when I deal with others at times of rendering my payment.

As I said, I did forget about it until I looked at my pictures of my trip and I rememberd the event and wanted to share

I lost no sleep but I won't forget it because by remembering it and growing from it, I will continue to grow into the person I strive to be

Hahahaha... Leave me alone. To you it is just a smuck on a bike less 10 baht but to me it is a life lesson in there that only means something to me.

When I start ignoring the little things.... I will become someone other than myself and I can hang-up enjoying my life.

Right now I can enjoy being me because of the person I am. Once I don't give a care about a taxi guys 10 baht... I will not be the "ME" that I enjoy being.

And I do enjoy being me
To hell with these old bitter queens Bucknaway. Some of these cheap old goats have managed to get through life without learning a thing except how to be selfish.
Close to same experience - I was at Carrefour and took a motorbike taxi back to Pattaya Tai - I asked the price and was the driver held up 4 fingers - I said "40 baht" and he nodded in the affirmative - we arrived at Center Condo parking lot and he then said "50 baht" - I paid, said nothing, and went my way - I realized he was just trying to get what he could get from me and I was not a happy camper as I am sure we agreed to 40 baht - it wasn't the 10 baht but rather the principle - I am not confrontational and always just pay the difference when this happens - yep- I am a wuss - I just don't feel I have a command of the langauge in engage in any sort of back and forth - just my 2 bits.

Yes, they were taken just after the downpour. I have a few more of the flooded streets. I will post them when I return home from work

Isn't it funny how money always seems more valuable the further we are from home? I pay the equivalent of 80 baht for a 10 minute bus trip here everyday, and find baht bus surcharges unprincipled! Oh dear - as someone said on another thread - the price of everything, etc.

Quote:
Isn't it funny how money always seems more valuable the further we are from home? I pay the equivalent of 80 baht for a 10 minute bus trip here everyday, and find baht bus surcharges unprincipled! Oh dear - as someone said on another thread - the price of everything, etc.

That is worth repeating. I recall visiting BKK with colleagues before metered taxis, and there were angry comments from my colleagues about the driver trying to "rip us off" for an extra 5 baht. When we stopped and realized how little that 5 baht was in our home currency, we were embarassed and actually tipped the driver *more* when we got to our destination.

Yes, we can indignantly argue the principles of baht bus drivers and motorcycle taxis charging farang more than Thai passengers, but perhaps we should try to keep some balance and remember how little the difference really is...
