something to think about cdnmatt.. my first live-in Thai guy had several ladyboy/men friends and over time they came over to the flat more and more often, sometimes sleeping over and often eating on the floor with newspapers under the plates.. Sometimes, they would just sit around and brush their long hair and apply make-up and do their finger nails.. It got old real fast and the cute young boyfriends rarely showed up as they always were busy with farangs and making baht. So, if you don't mind the company of old ladymen and finding long black hairs all over the floor and furniture, and the fighting over the mirror and constant primping and plucking, don't make any changes.. Odds are good that, since birds of a feather flock together and that your bf may be a future ladyman..no problem if you enjoy ladymen.. (This was almost ten years ago and my old flame did not became a ladyman and is just tres gay, which still works for me on occassion..) sorry to break the news but remember, you are paying the rent and it is your place and you make the rules.. No ladymen hanging around is a good place to start imho ...

Or called being really worried that he's liable to get violent and cut your dick off! cdnmatt wrote:he knows me well enough to know if he ever does, I won't say anything, but will just take off to Chiang Mai or something.
Aah ... prepared to discuss things like adults, then. cdnmatt wrote:I don't really care..... So fuck it, he's got it good, I got it good, and we're both happy. Good enough for me!
Agreed ToAT. Some sense, at last.

Beachlover: It was. Only the second time I ever bottomed. I still think of him when I see a hot Russian with a towel around his neck. Probably why I frequent Royal Garden a lot. Odd as it may sound, it's his smell I remember most.

cdnmatt wrote:You know, I used to think Westerners were obsessed with money, but wow, was I ever wrong. The Issan folk are far more obsessed with money than Westerners, but I guess that's what happens when you life a live where everyday, $3 is enough to worry about.
But yeah, of course money is part of it. And it's not the actual amounts or anything, but just the simple break from the poverty stricken life they're basically doomed to. The vast majority of these guys don't have any hope in hell of working themselves out of poverty
I think it's all in the mind. Millions of Chinese have worked themselves out of poverty... They seem to have this "prosperity" and hard working commercial sense built into their value system and it seems to separate them from the ethnic Thais, Malays and other ethnic groups in Asia. It makes me curious how or why so many Chinese prosper everywhere they go. But yeah... going back to your point. When you see Thai or Asian folkin general being obsessed with money and think Westerners are not as obsessed with money in comparison... I think it's more because Western folk have the luxury of not having to be obsessed with money. They have a much easier life. cdnmatt wrote:I can't see how living a life, working some shit job at a restaurant for example, living in a shitty room upstairs with the other staff, and making 3500 baht/month could be very happy and fulfilling.
I know... but more than half the world lives this way. Coming from developed nations, we're in the top 10% of the world. The 30-40k baht a month many professional Thais make in Bangkok make is probably around the middle of the mark or actually above average compared to the rest of the world (disclaimer... roughly feeling out the numbers here). Sad huh? cdnmatt wrote:Oh, and the other thing is the status he gets out of it. He loves showing me off. "Look at the farang I got", kind of thing. Of course, we only ever get to meet his family, and the fat, ugly ladyboy friends who are in their 30s. We don't ever meet the cute, 17 - 19yo gay friends he talks about. :-). Damnit... you have to turn that around! You should get to meet the cute young friends he has as well. :-) cdnmatt wrote: Simply because he knows me well enough to know if he ever does, I won't say anything, but will just take off to Chiang Mai or something.
You would do that? That's cold! cdnmatt wrote:He doesn't just want money alone, but does genuinely want to share his life with someone, and obviously, would prefer that someone to be a farang who has money.
I'd say this is the case with a lot of farang/Thai boy relationships. It's a mix. Part of it is being looked after financially and being able to leave struggle street. But a strong part of it has to be the company. Spending life with someone you actually like. Maybe they're not perfect. Sure you could get a better looking guy. But perhaps they have a great heart. Perhaps they're still fairly good looking. Maybe they're interesting to talk to and as someone from a totally foreign country, life gets to be an adventure with them. That's how I imagine a lot of the older farang/Thai boy relationships that DO work out are.

I try, but doesn't usually work. He just gets all pissy, so I give him some time to cool off, and then he usually either apologizes, or gets more pissed at me for leaving. Up to him. :-) Beachlover wrote:I think it's all in the mind. Millions of Chinese have worked themselves out of poverty... Ditto. Decent chance it's just communism at work, with a bunch of really intelligent and powerful leaders. They know how to make the money! Whereas with Thailand, the powerful like to ensure everyone knows their place in society. Beachlover wrote:I know... but more than half the world lives this way. Depends how you view it, but in a way, not really sad. If you don't know any different, then who's to say you don't have everything? It's when you go up in life, then drop back down, is when it hurts. If you don't know what it's like to be up, then it's probably not a big deal. Not to mention, who's to saying being "up" in life is the way to do it? Billions of people would hate the lifestyle. Most definitely, and without hesitation. Although, that would be a last resort, but if he ever pushed enough, that's exactly what I'd do. Go do some snorkeling and boozing in Phuket or something for a few days, while giving him some time to think things over. Kinda the same treatment I got from my mom I guess. When I was a kid, when I fucked up, my mom knew me well enough to not bother getting angry at me, because then I'd just get angry, and go do something even more stupid then what I was originally in shit for. Instead, she just wouldn't talk to me, and that would crush me. Kim's the exact same type of person. Beachlover wrote:I'd say this is the case with a lot of farang/Thai boy relationships. It's a mix. Exactly. No struggle, and spending time with someone who doesn't view sharing 6 big Chang beers on the sidewalk as a good night out. They like the entire world-view farangs bring to the table, but unfortunately, many (most?) farangs abuse that aspect. Then of course, these are the same farangs who turn around and bitch that Thais are manipulative, thieving bastards. Go figure...

Hey, that's nice that he does apologise sometimes. Shows a little maturity. (GF will disagree and say Kim is a baby because at 19 his emotional intelligence should be 100%). cdnmatt wrote:Ditto. No... it's communism that put China in a shit state. With the gradual introduction of capitalism, entrepreneurs took over inefficient state-run businesses and turned them around. Agree about Thailand though. cdnmatt wrote:Depends how you view it, but in a way, not really sad. If you don't know any different, then who's to say you don't have everything? Yeah, that's true. Once you've seen the light... I mean, I could never go back to a two blade razor lol. cdnmatt wrote:Most definitely, and without hesitation. Ah, I see. So you would take off temporarily. I thought you meant it as a permanent thing. Aw... that's cute, your Mum knew how to get to you. Mine just screamed and yelled and got a stick out lol.
