 Flamingo Hotel
So all you fountains of wisdom and experience...........
Please tell me about the Flamingo Hotel in Pattaya??
I have just booked to stay there in January for a couple of weeks with the boyfriend (if we are still together by then!!!). I have been in the restaurant and the bar before, love the bar, but the food is too heavy european for me...
So what do you think? A good place for a middle aged queen in love (infatuated) or not??

 Re: Flamingo Hotel
Rooms adequate, strict with IDS, NO Lift make sure you have lower floors. nice up and cumming convenient area.
Food can be good, wine good and Ambience 3 star
Second thoughts why dont you stay at the Ambience lol Rooms and standard very good there.
Loads of good restaurant around there try Niddy opposite Sundance karaoke wonderful value good western and Thai dishes Thai is out standing though for the minimum cost.
Try the Mosaic building over the road stunning rooms and apartments from 8000 bht per month wonderful value

 Re: Flamingo Hotel
i Used to stay there a lot however about 3 years ago i had a falling out with the boss.I liked the place, the only things i found not to good was the bed was 2 single beds pushed together, this is ok until you roll into the middle.
The other thing was you could sit on the toilet while showering, ive never realy liked wet-rooms prefer an enclossed shower.
If you dont mind that which ive said then i think you will find the place clean and well run - but not Gay, and has somtimes Families staying from Holland, this of course means kids-- Uuuck!!

 Re: Flamingo Hotel
I agree with Donny. Beds and the Thai wet room is not my preference. Never had a problem with the boss. I guess your paying for location.
I stayed there twice, asked for a front room twice and did not get it.
There are some on this board that now will fanatically defend the place even these criticisms were quite mild.

 Re: Flamingo Hotel
I stayed there of my first trip to Pattaya some years ago. The management allowed construction to go on directly over my room from 7AM until 10PM despite my repeated request for a quiet time in the afternoon for a nap. The owner, Jaap, was pleasant but not at all helpful. Construstion and cleaning tools were regularly left in the stair wells. I stayed there on recommendations from the Pattayagay Board; it was a mistake.

 Re: Flamingo Hotel
The above criticisms are valid but some are also somewhat dated. The construction is over and the entire area is on the upswing with many good restaurants and the Day-Nite bars just around the corner. I also had a problem with the wet-bathroom but learned to adjust. A far better value than the Ambiance where I used to stay. Your bf may like it better also since there is less chance as being viewed as a money boy. Getting a reservation at the Ambiance at this late date may be a problem in January.

 Re: Flamingo Hotel
I've stayed at the Flaming twice a year for the last 5 years now. Never had a problem with Jaap the manager. He's always bent over backwards to help. Always managed to get me into a front facing room. Although I think the rooms at the Ambiance are better and maintained to a higher standard (I stayed there for my trips to Pattaya for 2 years before changing) I didn't think they were worth the extra baht, the managers/owners were only friendly when they felt like it, and the guys working there would let everyone you knew know of all your comings and goings and boys you'd taken - so you can't get away with trying to be discreet (ie taking a boy for a quickie in the afternoon without a guy you see more regularly finding out about it from one of the Thai staff).
Flamingo much more relaxing, can have meals without having freelancers constantly trying to get your attention or just ploping themselves unasked next to you and being a pain.
Pays your money and makes your choice....as they say.

 Flamingo
I stayed there and liked it but did have problem. I sent a money order for $100.00 deposit. I had two emails from Jaap that acknowledged the money order and that the reservation was ok. When I arrived the reservation was ok, but the acting manager gave me back the money order and said his bank would not accept it as it was only $100.00 and they needed a larger amount. I had to take it back to USA and redeem it. That was really inconvenient, thank goodness I kept the stub for the money order or I would have had to eat the money order. The room was fine and only two flights up the stairs. I liked the restaurant a lot. Having found Howards Guest House, I would not go back to Flamingo. Punya at Howards just made the reservation and I paid when I got there. Also the bar at Howards is far more friendly than Flamingo. If you stay at the Flamingo, you will enjoy your stay.

Jaap is a great guy. I enjoy the the bar and restaurant but am not crazy about the rooms, they are OK, nothing more.
Hotels serves both gays and non sex tourists. Does not seem to attract str8 punters.

Thanks very much for the comments and information.
The bit that worries me most is the idea of having twin beds!! Since I am looking forward to sleeping every night with my boyfriend that will definitely cool my ardour!!!

"The bit that worries me most is the idea of having twin beds!!".....getting a big bed (queen size of course) should be no problem. Just contact Jaap and ask for one. By the way, the back-side rooms are cooler, quieter and 100 THB cheaper although they have no view or deck (just the back of Chevon's gym).

And the sound of clink, clink, clink as the weights hit the floor. An odd gunt here and there too!

I did, twice, and still got that deal with two twin mattress put together on a queen size bed frame. There are several places that have beds like that and I have no clue where this idea came from-- but I don't like it--someone must like it.
