This is a rhetorical question, right?

I learned this only too well with 2 minor car prangs both with Thais were in the wrong recently. The manner in which Thais ganged up to defend each other was infuriating..of course with insurance it doesn't matter but you need to wait for ages for the insurance agent to arrive and put up with all sorts of rubbish.
The ultimate insult from, one obnoxious Thai attempting to screw a large amount of money from for a dent at the side of his vehicle miles from anywhere mine could have come into contact with was..."you are an old man and shouldn't be driving ( charming) and you are a guest in my country'
I said "I'll let you get away with "old" dear but I' a damn sight better driver than you could ever hope to be but that happens to be PAYING fucking guest..got it"
they never do of course..sometimes this mentality is infuriating and I'd say it's about the most hateful about Thailand.they ARE NEVER WRONG.

Pretty strong words coming from you Lunchtime but I guess I would be pissed off too if I were in your position.

Yes - there are no 'federal' courts in Thailand. Do you mean "lower Court?"

FYI: The 26 year old Thaiman who killed a one-legged Finn by stabbing him up to 50 times last month in Jomtien has been in and out of jails many times over the years for drugs and other offences. If he has been a foreigner he would have gone to Jail and stayed there the first time!
I think that is a pretty wild presumption. But if it makes you happier thinking that the justice system is skewed against foreigners, be my guest. All I can tell you is that I have won both civil and criminal cases against Thais in the Thai courts -- many times. I guess it depends on the strength of your legal team, whether the evidence is on your side or not, and your personal stature. It should come as no surprise that the courts are not sympathetic to sex tourists, and especially to foreigners who come here to make money off the backs of Thais in the vice industry, like he-who-shall-remain unnamed.

You must have got yourself into some pretty pickles to have spent so much time struggling through the Thai legal system. After 20 plus years here (including time working for three large Thai companies) I've never had the need to go through that.

Are you owner the owner of a multi-million dollar a year business? I can assure you that legal entanglements come as part of the territory.

No, but I was, and never resorted to the courts in that either. But sometimes legal action is the only path.

Surely you don't have time for that AND posting here?

Of course you are a paying guest. A foreigner in another country is always a paying guest, unless he is in the slammer. We are all paying guests. It doesn't get you any special entitlement. The important word is still guest. Or do you think your retirement pension really entitles you to VIP treatment by all the citizens of Thailand?

I was thinking the same thing Brad. He leads us to believe he possibly owns a multi-million dollar business and attends to the "legal entanglements" that go with it, and has time to spend here finding fault with almost everything that anyone says on what seems to be a 24 hours basis. Simply amazing!

You guys are like a pack a wolves. A pack of wolves with very poor reading comprehension.
I did not say that I currently run any business. I did. In the past. Sold out before the financial crisis and moved to Singapore. When I visit the Kingdom now, it's mostly as a tourist.
Jinks is free to "chuck me out", though I can't think of any rule that I've broken except having a different opinion from some of you. If he does, I'll come back and continue posting if I want to, despite his tools.
