Dosti, Part II

PostAuthor: Henry Cate » Sun 12 Oct, 2008 1:08 pm

The plot advances. Ramu, the lame boy, and his devoted friend, have managed to scrape enough rupees together to send Ramu back to school.

However, living in an Indian slum presents terrible problems. In the end, Ramu's kindly teacher persuades Ramu to come and live with him. For some reason known only to the screenwriters (!), the kindly teacher advises Ramu to make the break with his loving friend in total silence. (!)

So, in this brief scene, we see the blind boy rapping on the window of Ramu's new home, Ramu flinging himself into the arms of his kind teacher in tears, and the blind boy convinced that his live has been betrayed.

From these plot shenanigans, emerges the following, extremely moving LAMENT.

Mohd. Rafi, as always, soars to the heavens.
