I don't mind offering what information I have to questions asked but most of my knowledge base concerns the Chiangmai area and that doesn't come up too often here.

The board is what we make of it I guess. It can appear Pattaya-centric at times but that springs from its origins as pattayagay; many board regulars either live in or spend a good deal of their time in Pattaya. Personally, I've only been to Pattaya twice, and only for a few days at a time (that was enough! I like the place, but in small doses!)

On the other hand I've spent time in Chiang Mai each time I've visited Thailand. I'll be there next week; unfortunately only for 3 days this time, but I'd appreciate any information such as - what's currently hot and what's not in Chiang Mai? - is Adam's Apple currently being cautious or brazen? (it goes it cycles as we know) - any local festivities going on next week?

I've not been to Thailand for nearly a year, and the rate at which bars open and close, I'll probably find the bar I feel most comfortable in at about ten minutes before closing time on my last night!

So Bob - please be good enough to share your knowledge base!

Well I dont think there is many posters who have been called more horrendous things as I have, and I keep smiling, I even remember in the past and previous Sawatdee in the very old days, I was that guy with Orange Hair and Boomed like Peter Ustinoff with a Marcel wave, can you believe there was Hundreds of posts, just about that, I was told it broke the record at the time, but I laughed my way through it, you see I consider it a compliment that any one wants to mention me at all, as im just having a fun time on here trying to let others know all the wonderful things happening or going on or you can do here in what we all call Paradise.

I know many of the Gay Business owners will not Post as they seem to get the real sickos and drunks having a go at them, even if they do so much good to help others, spending oooodels of there own money.

I have even be accused of closing one of the best sight down on here before, when some fun guy use to change my then handle, to other ways of saying it, and had a go at many a prominent person in this town, so it looked as I said it, then he went over the top with the Oscars or his version of it, but what he did not realize, we have some very clever guyz here who tracked down his ISP address and I he had to pay substantial damages, so as you see it can be fun, it can be rough, but its never boring, so dont worry about SMILES, he has so many guys on ignore he can only read his own posts.

You must remember not everyone is having a wonderful time mentally, take SMILES for instance Im sure you could not meet a nicer guy, he does not remember before under a different handel I conversed with him a bit, and under that grumpy old outer shell living in the wilds of Canada just dreaming of living in Thailand he is and old softy, I like him a lot but he just cant take his own medicine, maybe we should call him The Canadian Medicine Man.

Then you have the Nutters and the Bitter and mental sickos, then the resident Forum drunks who change there names more like a Camillian.

As for MR. SYDNEY I have met him he is only going to give you what you give him after your initial acquaintances, he is a nice big pussy cat stroke him and he purrs, unlike HEDDA and I want elephantspike to have him back soon, he is not the person he use to be, can we have him back spike, its about time you gave him another chance, he is so witty and intelligent when some one has a go at him, he does not turn into a silly queen and insult them bitchy like meny do, he gives them an intelligent answer and they just cant compete, ask him to try again, any one is worth a second chance.

So dont take any notice of them, and as SMILES warns you "DONT FEED THE TROLLS" what he is trying to rightfully say is, dont never answer them, and they wont bother you again, unlike me I like to stir them up, as I dont think there is much more they can call me, but you can see who it is the more they say, I have one nutter the whole town avoids, and he is out there trying to think of new ways of putting me down, now what he does not understand if he was nice again, as he use to be many guys would chat to him, but now they say hi then try to get away from him, as soon as possible, thank god your not in that position yet.

Hulljake, can't tell you about Adam's Apple this week as haven't been there for a while. AA has to be the most open/closed (due to police action) joint north of Bangkok! I understand that they do have the "shows" still although it's hit and miss....but Friday/Saturday nights be worth a try. I was there once three nights in a row with the first and third nights having "shows" and the middle night having a show Mother Theresa could have produced. I suspect somebody told them the middle night was not a good night to do one. I didn't really care as I was there drinking with friends.
Reminds me of the motorcycle guys up there. There are a lot of them that somehow instinctively know when they do and don't have to wear helmets (like they are emailed the police plans days ahead of time). My friend won't wear his helmet unless it's required (in spite of my constant carping) but he can exit the hotel a given morning, don the helmet, and, when I look increduluously at him, he says words to the effect: "look, dumbass, the cops are out this morning and I don't want a ticket!" And, sure as hell, 6 blocks later there's a police pull-over zone tapping the people who aren't wearing helmets. I think he dreamed it (but he knows!).

Edit: Hulljake, if you're ever interested in a quieter and upscale bar, you ought to try Soho (almost directly across the street from the Kad Suan Kaew or "Centran" Mall). It's a "gay" bar but there are no host or "off" boys to speak of (but I've known a friend or two who have made an occasional connection there). To this day, I really don't know where the university boys hang out but it surely isn't at any of the falang-known gay establishments (however, to be honest, I really haven't been looking for 4+ years either).
