Boy Bars, Bangkok Gay Pride?

Post Boy Bars, Bangkok Gay Pride?
I was told that according to the rules of the Bangkok Pride organization, that boy bars are not allowed to participate in the gay pride organization, nor allowed to host any events in support of pride, nor participate in any public events of pride, such as the dwindling gay pride parade.

Having seen the parade in Phuket, and having been told of the parade in Pattaya, where it seems that the boy bars are allowed to participate, the parades there appear to be much larger and a much bigger crowd draw for the event.

I understand the differences in the way the local governments handle the gay parade in each locale but I wonder if the Bangkok pride organization rules prohibiting the involvement of boy bars is stifling the parade and what it could become if they did allow boy bars to be involved.

I realize that there are more politics involved but is there not a way to change this rule to get more involvement, more excitement, more crowds and thus more funds raised for the charities that the BKK pride group helps to fund?

"Membership is open to gay and gay friendly businesses that support the objectives of the Bangkok Pride Coalition. However, we do not accept members that are involved in any way in exploiting children, that produce or distribute pornography or that employ persons under eighteen years of age for prostitution."

This is what is stated on the website but applications must be approved by the committee.

The shrinking numbers of members must be a cause for concern.

Well somehow this appears to have morphed into "No Boy Bars".  I can see the obvious reasons for the others, but the Boy Bars seem as active and vibrant part of the gay community as the pubs and bars do.

I think it is sad that the event has come down to a few groups in Soi 4, and 1 in Soi Twighlight, and would love to see the outreach and approval to and of other types of businesses outside of these areas that make up the bulk of the gay community.     I don't know all of the politics involved in this but I do know that there surely must be a greater potential for more community involvement, community cohesiveness and community activism in a city as large as Bangkok that is presently being subuded for reasons of whatever variety.

perhaps it would serve the community well to open a local business forum or community group to reach out, discuss and evolve the organization into a much broader representation of the gay community in Bangkok.

Post Being proud
One of the issues is that some, at least, of the current or former owners of bars in Soi 4 count it as a matter of personal pride that they do not go to Boy Bars.  One in particular claims only to go there "once a year at most" and only because he is "being hospitable" to some out-of-towner
