Thanks. Not sure what an O visa is. B visa is business, right? So is it OK to come in one time on a B visa (to buy the car) then come in on tourist visas afterwards?

I know John very well and when he says he is selling a quality car you know that is just what it is. John has told me that all proceeds from the sale of this vehicle will be donated to "Thais for Life." John will not accept one dollar in profit...he will donate it all!! Please help our brown skinned lovers and purchase John's vehicle. Go John!!!

400,000 for a 4 year old ex-rental Ford Laser in a private sale is way overpriced, no matter who the proceeds may be going to.

Agreed - if it was bought from a Ford dealer, with a Ford warranty. As it is for sale privately, with no warranty, no guaranteed dealer history, limited spares / service back-up (Ford Laser parts are not readily available in comparison with Japanese brands) and is not a popular model locally 400,000 is way overpriced in comparison not only with Lasers but with similar cars, such as the Honda City. 275,000 is more realistic and even then you would need to be lucky.

oh give the man a break...JB has a great reputation amongst local farangs and if he says it's a good motor and was his private vehicle then that's what it will be.
Let's not turn this into a bloody motoring thread but I owned and drove one of these in the UK (until the backseat driver sent me nuts) and I always have a Ford wherever I am..if I didn't already have one I'd certainly consider this.
The best thing is you just make sure you deal with one regualr mechanic in Pattaya ( ask JB !) and you will be looked after.

I thought I would never buy a Ford. But in recent years Ford has greatly improved its product I feel. So much that I bought the Ford Focus ST 2007 (eruo design not US) and I have been very satisfied. There is a large Ford dealer right on Suhkumvit past Home Works, so parts in Pattaya should not be a problem, I imagine.
Good luck John.

John Botting wrote:Thanks Pattaya Male. I have also been very happy with the car. Gone Mad is just on his usual attack John mode.
The "no guaranteed dealer history, limited spares / service back-up" comment shows his ignorance. The guaranteed dealer history is in the warranty and service book, stamped with Ford stamps. Limited spares? Crap. Never had a problem and as PM says there is a large Ford dealer on the Suhkumvit. Limited service? Again never had a problem with servicing the car.
And GM please tell me where you can buy a top of the range 4 year old Honda City, with full leather etc. for 275,000 Baht. Anyway my car is not the equivalent of a Honda City, it is the equivalent of a Toyota Altis or Honda Civic. Please compare like for like.
John, you should know by now that Gone Fishing has never allowed the true facts to get in the way of his attacks on people.
Sad really that people like him have such empty lives that they need to fill them with vitriolic attacks, but that is a good measure of the man.

Really? I thought it was just a Mazda 323 rebadged and only distributed in Asia unlike the much vaunted "World Car" Mondeo.
So what was it badged as in the UK? Escort, Focus, Taunus, Fiesta, Capri?
Having looked at the pics, maybe it was the Orion body but I thought that had a bigger engine.
