Judge rules against 'intelligent design' in class

Pennsylvania science teachers will not be forced to advocate "intelligent design" after a judge ruled that that the theory is really religion in disguise.

In his decision, Judge John Jones systematically dismantled the arguments of the proponents of intelligent design.
“Avoid whatever is approved of by the mob, and things that are the gift of chance. Whenever circumstance brings some welcome thing your way, stop in suspicion and alarm ...They are snares. ... we think these things are ours when in fact it is we who are caught. That track leads to precipices; life on that giddy level ends in a fall.” - Seneca

I asked Ginger (Vitis) what she thought of ID. She said, "Sweetie, a drivers' licence is all you need--But don't worry, no one would ever card you." :?

Intelligent Design

Though the full judgment is 139 pages long, it is very interesting. As homintern said, the judge demolished the pro-ID agreements, dissecting them with a scalpel. The judgement is quite easy to read, and should be ammunition for those who opposed fundies of all persuasions. I myself am convinced that the best argument again ID is the presence of certain politicians at the head of their governments while they proclaim themselves born-again. I got it right the first time.

As an atheist I have long held that the gulf between theists and atheists is so great that, from the atheist perspective, the differences between George Bush and Osama bin Laden are mere doctrinal quibbles
