Many will recall an old man, well beyond helping himself, expiring on the pavement in front of Wat Chi several years ago.  For two weeks he lay in urine and feces while thousands of us passed by.  Occasionally someone would leave a bottle of water beside him.  After his expiration he was removed.



Now  there is a man, perhaps 35 - 40 years old, emaciated (AIDS?) who appears to be approaching the same condition.

Where is this? Have you tried to help him or are you waiting for someone else to do it?Im not blaming you,maybe your dont know exactly what do to ,however leaving someone to suffer a painful death would not be my option.Can anyone get help for this bloke? Do we know if he really has AIDS?

This is exactly what I was talking about in the other thread about there being no welfare support for AIDS victims ,only charities such as Guardian Angels on their shoe string budget.Is this is what the future is going to come too? The boys you see now in future lying on the street dying of AIDS with people walking over them!

Because this will happen more in the future unless theres going to be help out there.But hey dont worry,Im sure in 10 year or so years time when some of the boys are dying lonely sad deaths the govt of the day will "remove" them out of the tourists way.But you dont have to worry,your only a tourist,not interested in helping guardian angels,maybe you think its too hard,let someone else do it.

Someone elses problem,who cares you think,well listen if you dont care now,you are really stuffing up your own community.

You obviosly dont know what happen in Pattaya. There are some fonds trying to help people suffering from AIDS, not only Guardian Angels. Thais4Life and PGF, who support dr. Phillipe in his work helping 1100 people suffering from AIDS.

But without money it dont work, so come up with the money.

Or be more active in the work the commitees do.  

As I read the post of vbbb, I feel as though he thinks there is only one charity...the one he wishes to promote. If one is seroiusly wanting to help, there are many well established charities including Thais4life and Pattaya Gay Festival.



As sad as it is, the scene Geezer discribes is happening all over the world. Knowing this does not mean someone is not doing anything.



But brow beating, as is being done I feel by vbbb, is usually not a way of getting support.



It may seem cold hearted of me, but the rentless rage seeking support for another charity is not helpful.



I appreciate (recognize) the need as we all do to help others. But raging as though we are ignorant of plight does what?

Precisely,but i dont think guardian angels should stop at helping boys like PGF does.There are young girls in the sex trade too.To tell you the truth I can easily have sex with a Thai boy without a condom.I would have a 80 per cent success rate.Maybe bar owners are not educating their "contractors".Whilst charities like PGF donate money,charities such as TAKE CARE need to educate,thats right,EDUCATE thai boys on AIDS.Thats means TAKE CARE needs to go into bars with THai speaking teachers educating them on AIDS.MONTY does a wonderful job,but i suppose finding Thai people to volunteer to go to bars to speak about AIDS Prevention may be hard.What are the real statitistics of bar boys in Pattaya who are HIV POZ,no one seems to want to answer.The thing is MONTY gets things done,thats why i back him.He has a heart of gold and is a aussie legend.He doesnt let his mates down.

Care to explain this - any statistical evidence? This is a very bold statement - lack of education, cultural fatalism, drug use, rural promiscuity, and numerous other factors are at play.



The educated majority of Western sex tourists / residents are more likely to practice safe sex for reasons of self preservation, aren't they?



 

ummmmmmm not all of them,not in the past anyway.Sometimes.

But a couple of blokes I know from my work told me they pay the girls extra to bareback.Just look at the straight scene in Pattaya.Farang sleeps with hiv poz thai woman,then has bareback with thai lady giving her HIV,then she does her boyfriend passing on the transmission,then he works in boy bars passes it on to other barboys and then to customers.

There are many factors be taken in account some of which you mention in your post.



It is however well authenticated by the W.H.O. that in regions where poverty engourages boys/girls into prostitution that the incidents of Aids and other associated diseases are well above the average.



I do not agree that the majority of tourists, western or otherwise, are more likely to practice safe sex. Quite the opposite, in many cases they will use the unprotected sex argument to seal the deal with the boy or girl. That is where the lack of sex education of these boys and girls working in the sex trade lets them down. The tourist assures them that 'his' version of safe sex carries no risk and the Thai, bowing to the tourists superior 'status and knowledge' accepts that.



Thus many boys and girls are now dying thanks to the lack of conscience of the sex tourist and as Billy says it may well be the boy you are seeing right now that will be dying in the gutter in a few years time.

I was only to aware of BBB's past postings but hoped that maybe he has seen how stupid he was.

I waited three days before posting this situation to be sure that it was not temporary.  As I walked back this evening, he was not there.  Who knows the circumstances?
