Any forum is only as good as the guys using it so I'm sure you being good interesting guys it will be used and not abused.

I'm predicting that the personals will be the most popular section of that site. I think page-loading time may be an issue with users on dial-up (including pretty much everyone in Thailand). No matter how super-duper the server may be, pages that are that graphically intensive just take a while to load when viewed via a dial-up connection.

Well, if Mike is reading, I hope he rethinks the "minimum editing" part of his Board at least where it involves the excesses of flaming and multiple posting identities. He has a nice start to his site, and it will be interesting to see if he is able to make a go of a decent posting community.

Many have said that there is no need for another Gay Thailand site. I totally disagree. We are not in direct competition with anyone. All the sites I know of are free and all seem to try to work together to help each other. I believe that the more sites that are on the Internet the more buzz we create for guys who are interested in traveling to the Land of Smiles. It benefits us all!

I agree. The home page is slow to load and we are working on it. There are many great sites that tell you load times for internet pages. Currently, ours would take someone over 109 seconds to load on a 56k modem. That is about 80 seconds too slow. We apologize for this and are busy working on solutions to fix it.

I recently read the Phuket "City Guide", on this Gay Thailand site, and was surprised by the level of incorrect information. It reads like it was written by some who has never been to Phuket, but has gleaned/copied information from other guides.

It refers to one bar as being on the beach, when it isn't, another bar is reported to have a strict door policy and doormen, when actually not only does it not have any doorman, it doesn't have any doors! It refers to another bar as being one of the original gay bars, when it only opened a couple of years ago, and reccomends a restaurant that closed over a year ago. It just seems to get most things wrong, including the statement that there are only cabaret shows in one bar, when there are shows in at least four bars in one soi in Paradise.

How about you guys, who are trying to give the appearance of knowing what's going on, actually going to have a look yourselves. It's not that far from Pattaya you know!

Along these lines ... I could stand corrected on this, but a small point (which is also in the Phuket City Guide) hit my eye:

" ... The island (pronounced “foo-ket”, not “fuck it”) ... "

I believe this is incorrect.
From everything I've ever read (and from the horse's mouth as well), the correct pronunciation of "PHUKET" is this: "POO-GET" (heavy accent on 2nd syllable).

A niggling point perhaps, but important stuff when starting up a new website.
